HOA is a 50 bedded tertiary care and post graduate teaching hospital in Lahore, Pakistan. The hospital provides 24 hours emergency services which are backed up by 14 state of the art Operation Theaters, 02 Angioplasty and Angiography Units, Delivery Rooms, Medical ICU's, Neonatal ICU's and well-equipped clinical indoor & outdoor departments. The diagnostic department provide 24 hour services for all clinical departments. Obstetrics & Gynae and Pediatrics have been our flagship departments for many years but now many new specialities including Cardiac Surgery, Neurosurgery, Angioplasty, Angiography and Neuro & Peripheral intervention, Orthopaedic Surgery, Urology, Plastic Surgery, Cosmetology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Neurology, Pulmonology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Nephrology & Dialysis, Lithotripsy, Laparoscopic Surgery and Thoracic Surgery are all being provided for admitted cases.

HOA was founded in 1992 as a small 20 bed hospital to provide maternity services mainly to the middle class. Since then, thanks to the endeavours of the management and support of consultants, it has grown into a major 350 bed facility catering for all specialties – a creditable tenfold growth achieved in a span of 25 years.
Healthcare is primarily the responsibility of the state. Government is required to provide free healthcare to the populace, irrespective of social status. Unfortunately, and because of the paucity of funds, this has not been entirely possible. At present government has allocated and is spending sizable sums of money on developing major teaching hospitals, but the demand far outstrips the provision. This has opened the way for the private sector to step in and set up hospitals facilities at all levels – tertiary, secondary and primary. These private sector initiatives to provide the needy with necessary medical services and facilities are to be lauded.
HOA enjoys a unique status, in that it is located in the city center for easy accessibility and provides services in all major specialties, namely Maternity, Gynae, Peads, General Surgery and Internal Medicine. With fully equipped ICU and CCU facilities it provides excellent care to emergency patients. The hospital’s other valuable services include sub-specialties like Plastic Surgery, Dentistry and paediatrics.
With continued support of the Board of Management, I am sure, the hospital will continue to expand and in the near future create other specialties to provide healthcare in areas which are generally lacking in the country i.e. Liver Transplant, Oncology and Cardiac Surgery.
It gives me great pleasure to extend my good wishes to the management in all future endeavors and my sincere appreciation to the Chief Executive and the Executive Director for raising the standard of care to the accepted international level, thereby becoming the first hospital to win approval of the Health Foundation of Punjab.
